Day of reckoning for boys at WTT Youth Star Contender Otocec presented by I Feel Slovenia

Four titles will be at stake on the final day as the Boys competition at this week’s WTT Youth Star Contender Otocec presented by I Feel Slovenia concludes today. 

The Under-15 and Under-19 finals of the Boys’ Doubles is scheduled for 1730 and 1800 respectively while the Under-15 Boys’ Singles Finals will commence at 1830 followed by the Under-19 Boys Singles Final at 1900. *All timings are in local time

36 matches will be played at the Sport Centre Otocec, starting with the knock-out rounds of 16 followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.

A mouth-watering clash between Germany’s Kay Stumper and Romania’s Iulian Chirita awaits in the Under-19 round of 16. 15-year-old Chirita, who is the world number one player in the Under-15 ITTF Table Tennis Youth World Ranking, is set to face off with Stumper, ranked second in his Under-19 Singles category on the ITTF Table Tennis Youth World Ranking.

Before that, Chirita will take on Sweden’s Isak Alfredsson in the Under-15 round of 16 at 0930.

Italy’s Andrea Puppo, who created an upset by beating 18-year-old Stumper 3-0 (11-8, 13-11, 11-6) in their group stage encounter, will take on Russia’s Damir Akhmetsafin, who also features in the Under-19 Boys Doubles semi-finals together with compatriot Maksim Bokov.

The Russians will go into battle with Hungary’s Csaba Andras and Croatia’s Ivor Ban where a place in the semi-finals awaits between the winners of Germany’s Daniel Rinderer and Stumper and France’s Alexis Kouraichi and Thibault Port.

In the other Under-15 Doubles semi-finals, Chirtia will once again be featured alongside Alexandru Dragos Bujor as they meet the Israeli pair of Uri Almor and Itay Avivi. Russia’s Samuel Arpas and Samuel Palusek will take on Sweden’s Alfredsson and Qatar’s Rawad Alnaser.
